LANSING, Mich. — Maj. Gen. Greg Vadnais, during a brief ceremony held at the Joint Forces Headquarters in Lansing, Michigan on August 1, 2016. Addelman will report directly to the adjutant general and is responsible for overseeing the IG-related issues of approximately 10,000 members of the Michigan Army National Guard and the Air Guard bases in Selfridge and Battle Creek.

Addleman, an active duty Soldier, joins the Michigan Guard staff after completing the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and serving as a battalion commander in Kuwait. It was his tour in Kuwait that exposed him to the National Guard. “While serving as battalion commander my staff was comprised of members of the North Carolina National Guard who rotated out with members of the Pennsylvania National Guard,” said Addleman. “I could not be more impressed with the performance of those Soldiers and I look forward to the same experience here in Michigan.”

“We welcome Arthur and his wife Kay to the Michigan Guard family, both Army and Air,” said Vadnais, “Where our men and women are doing everything from handing out water in Flint to delivering precision fires at Northern Strike.”

The opportunity to be stationed near his wife’s family initially drew Addleman to the IG position. “Kay has family in Kalamazoo, the Upper Peninsula and Elkhart (Indiana), so in addition to being to help Soldiers and Airmen, my wife gets to be closer to her family,” stated Addleman.

Addleman and his wife Kay are currently residing in DeWitt, Michigan.
