Brig Gen Daniel J. Kramer II serves as the Assistant Adjutant General of the Michigan Air National Guard, providing principal advisory support to the Adjutant General on all Air National Guard matters. He leads a force of 2,500 dedicated Airmen engaged in multi-domain global operations, protecting the homeland, and assisting Michigan communities.
Gen Kramer was commissioned as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Michigan Technological University in May 1995. He began his career as an acquisitions officer for intelligent tutoring systems at Brooks Air Force Base, Texas. In June 1998, he transferred to the Michigan Air National Guard, serving as a C-130 Navigator at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Throughout his tenure at Selfridge, he deployed multiple times to the United States Central Command Theater in support of various named contingency operations. General Kramer has successfully held command positions at the Squadron, Group, and Wing levels across two installations.
In November 2009, he transitioned to the 217th Air Operations Group (AOG) at Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Michigan, where he undertook various staff and operational roles supporting United States Air Forces in Europe and Africa. He deployed as the Chief of Combat Operations at the 603rd Air Operations Center in Ramstein Air Base, Germany, overseeing command and control for counter-terrorism operations and embassy evacuations across the African Theater. In 2018, he returned to the 217 AOG as Group Commander, responsible for operational planning and command and control support in the EUCOM and AFRICOM Areas of Responsibility (AOR). Subsequently, he returned to Selfridge ANGB to command the largest Mission Support Group in the Air National Guard. Prior to his current assignment, the Gen was the Commander of the 110th Wing, Battle Creek Air National Guard Base (ANGB), Michigan.
