LANSING, Mich. -- Ground was broken today, June 8, on a new traffic circle at the junction of Rosso Highway and Jefferson Avenue in Harrison Township, immediately outside of the Main Gate of Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
The estimated $2.6 million project is being jointly funded by the Macomb County Dept. of Roads and the National Guard.
Brig. Gen. John D. Slocum, commander of the 127th Wing and the Selfridge Base commander, said the project will significantly enhance the safety of drivers not only traveling to and from the base, but local commuters in general. Slocum praised the partnership of Macomb County in the process and held up the project of an example of how federal and local partners can work together to create a positive outcome for all parties. The project is expected to be completed in the late summer/early fall 2016 time frame.
