Col. Scott L. Meyers relinquished command to Maj. Shawn G. Abbe at Camp Grayling, June 30, 2016. “I have truly enjoyed every day I have spent working with this command, it has been fun and rewarding,” said Lt. Col. Scott Meyers. “I have no doubts that Maj. (Michigan National Guard photo by Sgt. 1st Class Helen Miller/Released) During the ceremony the battalion colors were passed from the Command Sergeant Major of the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, Command Sgt. Maj. Gary J. Jensen to Lt. Col Meyers, then to Maj. Gen. Greg Vadnais, Adjutant General of the Michigan National Guard, then to Maj. Abbe and back to the Jensen, signifying his receipt of Abbe’s authority and responsibilities as the battalion commander. “Scott promised all the unit commanders that the Michigan National Guard will be at 100 percent by May of 2017 and I intend to keep that promise,” said Abbe. “We’ll make this happen.”
