The training included tactical movements, posting security, breaching doorways, clearing rooms and a variety of other battle drills. Exercise Northern Strike 16 is a National Guard Bureau-sponsored exercise uniting approximately 5,000 Army, Air Force, Marine and Special Forces service members from 20 states and three coalition countries during the first three weeks of August 2016 at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center and the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, both located in northern Michigan. The exercise strives to provide accessible, readiness-building opportunities for military units from all service branches to achieve and sustain proficiency in conducting mission command, air, sea, and ground maneuver integration, and the synchronization of fires in a joint, multinational, decisive action environment. CAMP GRAYLING JOINT MANEUVER TRAINING CENTER. Mich.--Soldiers from Company C, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment based in Wyoming, Michigan, conducted a combined arms assault exercise at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center’s Combined Arms Collective Training Facility, Aug. 8, 2016. The CACTF facility is designed to resemble a small city in order to provide realistic urban warfare training. It includes: two control buildings and two full-time staff members, 26 training buildings, an underground operations training course, 96 cameras with night vision capabilities, an after-action review facility, a collapsed structure for rescue and retrieval training and a dry gap bridge-out trainer. The CACTF provides an urban environment for Soldiers, law enforcement, and other security staff, to take part in training exercises for a wide variety of missions. The opposing forces Company C encountered consisted of local civilians and other permanent personnel staged to attack and evade from multiple positions in order to provide a realistic training scenario. “Training so far has been very good, very hands on,” said Spc. Zachary Young, a member of Company C, 3rd platoon. “There has been great coordination from the opposition forces and civilians to provide a valuable training environment.” Company C is at Camp Grayling to complete their annual training requirement during the camp’s Northern Strike 16 exercise.
