Story written by Angela Simpson, JFHQ Public Affairs LANSING, Mich. -- Misty McGinnis of Ovid, an equal opportunity advisor with the Lansing-based, Michigan National Guard, 272nd Regional Support Group, was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant. McGinnis is currently a fulltime Army National Guard financial management technician (auditor) with 16 total years of military service. She graduated from Stanton High School in Stanton, Nebraska in 1996 and completed basic training in 1997 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. She deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007 as a communications noncommissioned officer. McGinnis is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Grantham University. She is married to Daniel McGinnis and has one son, Dillan. She is the daughter of Robert and Diane Baumert of Wayne, Nebraska.
