Mission

To foster a culture free of sexual assault through an environment of prevention, education, training, response capability, victim support, reporting procedures, and appropriate accountability that enhances the safety and well-being of the MING community. The MING SAPR Team applies a victim-centered advocacy approach to support recovery, increase safety, reduce risk of revictimization, and ensure service members remain fully mission-capable and engaged.

Our Role

  • Assist, advise and enable commanders at every level to train our service members to intervene, no matter the time or place.
  • Act decisively and protect all members of the National Guard family from sexually offensive and abusive behavior and motivate Army and Air Force collaboration in defense of our state and nation.
  • Protect our Service Members, their families, DoD civilians, and veterans through information, education, programs, and resources.

Services

Prevention through education & training for:  

  • Unit Commanders and Senior Enlisted Leaders 

  • Federal Technicians and DoD Civilians 

  • Unit level training to include: 
    • Pre-deployment 
    • Post-deployment 
    • Yellow Ribbon events 
    • Annual training requirements 
    • Refresher training as requested 

24/7 Response Capability 

Victim Advocacy for Service Members, dependents, and DoD civilians such as:

  • Crisis intervention (non-clinical) 

  • Confidentiality and privileged communications 

  • Referrals to: 
    • ​Equal Opportunity (sexual harassment) 
    • Family Programs Office (domestic violence) 
 
  • Coordinate additional resources such as: 
    • ​Transportation to legal requirements such as court hearings or investigative interviews. 
    • Special Victims Council 
    • Mental Health Services 
    • Chaplain Corps 
    • DoD Safe Helpline 
    • Military OneSource 
    • Veterans Assistance Programs 
 
  • Case management and liaison with: 
    • ​Civilian law enforcement 
    • Military Investigative Criminal Organization (OCI, OSI, CID) 
    • Judge Advocate General
